“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10)
One of the hardest things to accomplish for modern day man is to slow down. We are so immersed in our hurry-hurry world, with our agendas jam packed with activities, that it wouldn’t cross our minds to decrease the pace of our life.
Overworked, stressed out, and unfulfilled lives are the inevitable results of this lifestyle. In our pursuit of accomplishment we settle for exerting all our strength in whatever the circumstances around us demand, instead of asking God what His program is.
When we get still, the voice of our intuitive knowledge of God in each one of us will start getting louder and louder. It will start bringing up questions like, “Is this really what I want for my life? Is this what life is all about?”
These questions are intended to help bring you back to the fact that God has a purpose for your life, and that He has created you with a unique combination of gifts and talents to accomplish it.
This intuitive knowledge of God is a still, small voice. Most people drown it out with their daily activities. They prefer a life that is constantly bombarding them with noises and distractions. They couldn’t bear silence, because it would bore them to death.
But the true reason for boredom is that people have not listened to their inner voice. They have not dealt with these vital questions.
Why not take an hour or two to become totally quiet? Stop being a firefighter, slow down and open your heart to God. Questions might arise within you that will probably produce dissatisfaction. Don’t shut them off, that’s okay. It is God trying to turn your life from the destructive course that you’re on. He wants to teach you how to become truly productive by putting Him and His agenda first.
Learn to de-clutter your life by focusing on what really counts. You can make changes today that will affect the course of your life forever. Learn how to flow with God’s plan for your life, and how to successfully develop the talents He has given you.
