Can Do or Can’t Do?

Ξ February 3rd, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Educate for Freedom, Self-improvement:Spiritual |

Can Do AttitudeHere are the 5 changes I made in my life that took me from being the perpetual loser to a “Can Do” person:

Change #1: I decided to spend quality time with God every day. If it meant sleeping less and getting up earlier, I was willing to do that sacrifice. I knew that having fellowship with the kindest Being in the Universe would affect my life powerfully.

Change #2: I studied His Word and took advantage of every opportunity I had to listen to anointed teachings from Him. I’d download free Bible teachings and listen to them while I cooked, drove in my car, exercised, worked in the garden, etc.

Change #3: I took the quality decision that these new learned truths would govern my life from now on. As I listened to God’s Word, my way of thinking started to change. I started to view myself the way God sees me, as a precious creation of His that had the God given ability to succeed in life. I discovered that He had an exciting, glorious and good plan for my life.

Change #4: I learned the language of silence. Even though my mind was being renewed by receiving high quality spiritual food, my mouth often still spoke things that were contrary to God’s Word. The Bible says that life and death lie in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). I determined to only speak God’s Word over my life and my circumstances, no matter what they looked like or how I felt.

Change #5: I chose to walk in love. Coming from a dysfunctional family, I had serious wounds of my past and harbored resentment against the people who had hurt me. I decided to forgive and not to take any more offenses, because I knew they would shut me off from God and His blessings. Besides, after spending so much time with Him, He taught me to love the way He loves: unconditionally.

Please note that these changes did not occur overnight. It was only through the grace,–the supernatural empowerment of God–that I could stick through this process without giving up. He was always there, patient and merciful.

He restored my life to a place where people are impressed by my boldness and confidence. What a miracle!

If He did it for me, He can do it for you too!

Lose it Today

Ξ December 30th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Self-improvement:Spiritual |

self-directed learning destinyOur life is like a clean canvas, waiting to be painted on with lots of colors.

But most of us hesitate when it comes to picking up the paintbrush and boldly filling it with color. We’d love

somebody else to at least give us an outline about what “should” be drawn.

We want somebody else to tell us who to be.

It frees us from responsibility and especially from risk.

Oh, that risk!

Most of us spend our life’s energy on eliminating risks or at least trying to control it as much as possible. We

reject anything that cannot be controlled.

The problem is you lose your soul and your dreams when you insist on controlling things. Too many people forsake their dream because they are not willing to take a risk.

Many don’t take risks because they fear they aren’t up to the challenge. These people have never learned to take the desire in their hearts seriously.

But deep down inside we know that we were not created to live our life controlling things. We were created by Almighty God to live an adventure.

Adventures are exciting…and risky.

Today you can recover the dreams of your heart by releasing control!

Because God does not operate according to formulas. He is a person with a limitless creativity. He is a truly free and alive personality.

Whoever chooses to walk with Him must prepare for adventure. He cannot be put into a religious, doctrinal or theological box.

He has already designed you for a specific task to accomplish in this world. But don’t go looking for it there,

search inside. That is where you will find your calling.

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what

the world needs is people who have come alive.” Gil Bailie

What makes you come alive? What is written in your heart? Don’t ask yourself how to achieve it. That is God’s problem.

You will walk it out with Him, one day at a time, together with Him. It will be full of amazing surprises and unexpected challenges, but when all has been said and done, it will always be good.

Oh, and remember…

“Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you

go” (Joshua 1:9)

Overcoming Fear

Ξ November 17th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Self-improvement:Spiritual |

self-directed learning fearHow are those changes coming along? According to God’s Word, the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. (Proverbs 4:18)

That means your life should be increasing constantly from one day to the next.

If you are struggling in this area, you are probably facing fears you’ll have to deal with.

In every change we want to make in our lives or every new step we want to take, we’ll encounter man’s greatest enemy: fear. Fear of the unknown, the complex, the inexplicable.

Fear has a way of paralyzing our actions. It has us cowering in a corner and forces us to settle for a level of life that is way below what God has intended for us.

If fear is the greatest obstacle to our growth, then why do we fear so much? Why can’t we just ignore the message of fear and focus on what God has put in our heart?

You can. But it will require some action.

Fear operates just as faith does. As a matter of fact, fear is a twisted kind of faith. It is also a form of belief. It believes more in the devil’s ability to harm us than in God’s ability to help us overcome the odds.

And just as faith is made strong by reading and hearing the Word of God, fear develops by allowing negative messages to access our minds.

We are bombarded with bad news daily. If it’s not the media it will be the colleague at work or our next door neighbor.

If we are not careful, we will very soon accumulate enough information that will justify all our fears.

This does not mean we should ignore bad circumstances, but we should never allow them to determine our outlook on life. There is a higher Truth.

While the whole world is going havoc, there is still an Absolute that stands as a huge rock in the middle of a raging sea: God’s Word and His promise of having empowered the human race to become more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.

Anyone who chooses to build his or her life on this rock will overcome insurmountable obstacles. He will be able to boldly confront life’s challenges and walk out in faith to achieve the seemingly impossible.

Oh, and remember…

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)

Are You on the Right Track?

Ξ October 6th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Self-improvement:Spiritual |

self-directed learning destinyAre you insecure about God’s plan for your life? Would you like to be assured that you are on track with His purpose and His calling for your life?

I want to remind you that none of us was furtively planted here on earth.  The Bible clearly states that we are a masterpiece of God that is to walk in a plan that He has designed beforehand.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

You know, we will be accountable before God for everything we have done in our lives.

But who wants to miss out on God’s plan anyway? If we don’t hook up to God and search for His plan for our lives, we will miss out on the most exciting and glorious destiny He has planned for us. God is no small thinker! (Isaiah 55:8)

His plans are way beyond anything we can imagine. God’s calling is by far the best option we could experience during your brief stay on planet Earth.

So, how can we know we are on the right track? It is really not that difficult. All you have to do is decide to flow with His program and He will do the rest.

First of all, you have to be sure about these 3 things:

1.- Have you accepted Jesus as Lord of your life? This is the first step you will have to take. Once you have accepted the huge gift He made for you by giving His life so yours could be saved, you become part of God’s family and you can start communicating with your Father.

2.- Are you getting informed about His known will? Before you can walk in God’s specific will, it is vital that you getacquainted with His known will, the Bible. Whatever your calling may be, it will always have to be aligned to theWord of the living God.

3.- Are you taking time to fellowship with God? Just as an earthly son can live a distant life from his father and still be his son, many believers live a distant life from God. Communicating with God is not difficult. He yearns to become part of our life.

Now you can start hearing from God! Once you decide to invest time in your relationship with God, He will draw nearer to you and you will start hearing from Him, not audibly but from within, because that is where He lives when you are a child of God.

He will start directing your life with peace. Whatever is in your heart to do that is aligned with the Word of God, will seem good to you. You will have peace about it. As you begin walking in this, the peace will become stronger and stronger, even if it might seem crazy to others.

Oh, and remember…

“For you shall go out with joy, and be led with peace…” (Isaiah 55:12)

Are You Missing God? 3 Reasons Why People Make Wrong Life Decisions

Ξ September 29th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Self-improvement:Spiritual |

self-directed learning for success god's plan for your lifeWho would not want to be enlightened with godly wisdom when life choices have to be made? Would you like to hear from God when it comes to making all the important decisions in life?

God has distinctively designed every one of us for a life that He has already planned beforehand.

If we learn to listen to His voice we can make important life decisions according to His wise guidance, –and not according to our limited human ability to discern what is best for us.

A wrong decision in life will have consequences in the future. Somewhere along the way God’s plan will start tugging in our heart.

Most mid-life crisis happen because a person started climbing up the wrong ladder. Lack of fulfillment and the awareness of “there is more to life” are the result of not seeking God’s will when we make our choices.

And God’s plan for our life is always perfect and glorious! It is much more than we can even imagine. Only He knows exactly who we are, and only He desires for us to live a fulfilled and meaningful life more than we ourselves do.

Then why do so many believers fail to hear from God when they make their life choices?

It is always because of one of three reasons.

Reason #1: They are Not Submitted to God. If we want to walk according to God’s plan for our life, we have to submit to His program instead of insisting on our own agenda. The most important step is giving our life to Him by accepting Jesus as the Savior of our souls.

Reason #2: They Fail to Listen to God. In our busy world most people don’t find the time to tune into God’s voice. He is always talking to us, but we have to learn to slow down and listen to Him. That is why it is important to dedicate a certain time of the day to just fellowshipping with God and reading His Word, the Bible.

Reason #3: Disobedience. Many people know exactly what they should do, but choose not to listen. Sometimes it is true rebellion, but many times it is because we are expecting something more spectacular from God. He often nudges us into directions that don’t make sense to us at all, so we choose to listen to our human reasoning instead of His guidance.

The good thing is that, no matter what circumstances you are in or how much you have missed God, His perfect plan for your life is still waiting for you to walk in it! 3 Reasons Why You Might Not Be Hearing From God

Ξ September 22nd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Self-improvement:Spiritual |

self-directed learning for success hearing from GodWould you like to hear from God, learn to know His voice, and make the right decisions in your life? For most people God is a distant Being that operates in a realm that is disclosed to mankind. Many don’t even think God is particularly interested in what is happening on planet Earth.

Nevertheless, nothing could be further from the truth. The Bible clearly states that God yearns to communicate with us and that He has made it possible for us to access Him whenever we so desire.

Then, how come so many people, even people who have been Christians for years, have trouble hearing from God?

Here are 3 reasons why many people miss hearing from God:

Reason #1: They have chosen to live a life according to their own agenda.

Although this point might seem obvious, it is the most common reason why people don’t experience a vibrant relationship with God. They feel God should be able to reach them somehow, but won’t do anything to draw closer to Him.

The most important step to living in contact with God is making Jesus the Lord of your life. Then you become a son or daughter of God and have every right to hear from Him just as any child can communicate with its father.

Reason #2: Lack of time. Just as in any other relationship, if you don’t invest time in your relationship with God, you will drift away from Him and you won’t be sensitive to His voice when He talks to you.

Reason #3: Condemnation.

If you have a bad conscience about something you have done, you won’t be able to access God with confidence.  You will run from God instead of doing what you should: repent as soon as possible, receive God’s mercy and forgiveness, forgive yourself and keep on going. Don’t ever let your mistakes prevent you from hearing God’s voice.

Don’t ever let anything come between you and God!

When I wrote the book “Know Your Destiny – How to Find Out God’s Plan and Purpose for Your Life,” I was asked to take the Chapter about how to be led by the Spirit of God out. It was too controversial, because many Christians don’t believe what the Bible says about being led by the Holy Ghost.

I refused to take it out because I wanted you to know all the Truth. If there is one thing I desire in my life, it is that of helping others discover God’s plan for their life and learning how to be led by the Holy Spirit.

Do You Have Trouble Hearing From God?

Ξ August 18th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Self-improvement:Spiritual |

If you do, welcome to the crowd! Most believers either struggle in this area or don’t even know they have this awesome privilege.

But I assure you that you can–and should–hear from God 24/7.

Why is it so difficult for us to hear from god?

Although God has opened the doors of His throne room wide open for anyone to enter, we human beings sometimes have difficulties in accessing Him.

It is hard for us to function in the spiritual when we are so used to functioning in the natural, where we can see, feel and touch any person we are interacting with. That is why we have to be diligent to practice coming into God’s presence and to hear His voice every day.

When we are born again as Christians, we become part of a new kingdom.

Just as you need time to get acquainted with the laws and the language of any foreign country when you travel, you need time to learn the ways of God’s kingdom.

You need to be diligent in seeking for more of Him every day. If you do, get prepared for some awesome surprises in your life!

Don’t linger in this area!

What would you do if Jesus Himself knocked at your door one day to give you a personal visit? Wouldn’t you feel extremely honored? You’d probably completely forget your agenda and just sit at His feet all day and listen to what He has to share.

Many Christians are not aware that this is exactly what they can do at any time of their day. It is an awesome privilege we Christians have,–and we don’t take enough advantage of it!

You can come into God’s presence whenever you like and wherever you are. You can talk to Him when you wake up at 3:00 AM in the morning or at 12:00 PM at noon. You can access His presence while you’re at your work or at home,–or on vacation in the middle of a lake!

You have unlimited access to the presence of the kindest being in the whole universe. And He longs to fellowship with you.

The truth is, God can make anything possible in your life. His resources are unlimited. But the only thing He can’t do is bring you closer to Him. That is your part. You will have to decide daily to draw closer to Him.

Oh, and remember…

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8)

My Purpose in Life – Discover Three Mistakes That Make People Miss God’s Plan For Their Life

If you have accepted Jesus as Lord over your life, then the Holy Spirit lives in you and is guiding you right now at this moment.

May Your Will Be Done, God?

Ξ May 19th, 2009 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Educate for Freedom, Self-Improvement:Techniques, Self-improvement:Spiritual |

God's will for meIs prayer really a hit or miss way of communicating with God?

Contrary to what many Christians believe, prayers should always be answered. There is not one prayer in the Bible that God ignored, and Jesus said, “Whatever you ask of God in My name, you shall receive.”

Then why are so many prayers seemingly left unanswered? Why do most believers hope that God will hear them instead of having the absolute assurance that He will?

Both of these problems stem from lack of knowledge.

1.- Not knowing God well

Just like a biological son may not know his father well, we as believers may not know our heavenly Father well.

If God is a person you fear because you think He’ll whack you on the head every time you do something wrong, you will not have the confidence of asking Him in faith. And faithless prayers are not answered, it is only by faith that we can please God and believe that He is the rewarder of those who seek Him diligently.

When we know God and are assured about His mercy and love for us, we can approach Him confidently, as a beloved son would do, and make the requests we need to make.

2.- Not knowing His will for each of our lives and how to pray according to it

Prayers should always be done with the certainty of His will for our lives. Once we know His will, we can approach Him boldly and talk to Him about it.

One of the most abused prayers is the “but may Your will be done” prayer. Some people pray that phrase ignorantly in any prayer they ever utter.

The only time that phrase was ever prayed in the Bible was when Jesus prayed it in Gethsemane. He knew the will of God, but He didn’t want to obey it. It was a prayer of consecration: a prayer that showed His willingness to ignore His own flesh and do the will of God instead of his own.

Jesus prayed this prayer three times that night and so should we pray it often throughout our day when we struggle with doing the will of God in our lives, like forgiving someone or showing love to our enemies.

But you cannot pray a prayer of faith this way!

Prayers are like ball games. They are all played with balls, but they have different rules. Just as you cannot play soccer with baseball rules, you cannot pray a prayer of faith with the guidelines of a prayer of consecration.

The prayer of faith must be preceded by Bible study. You have to be convinced that what you are asking for is really God’s will and firmly believe it. Once you are sure it is God’s will for you to have what you ask, then you go before Him and ask, but only once (and please don’t pray “but may Your will be done,” like in the prayer of consecration, you already know God’s will).

After that you just thank Him every time the issue comes up. You have already made your petition and now you know with all your heart that He will answer!

Oh, and remember…

“This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14, 15)
