Self Esteem Versus True Humbleness

Ξ October 27th, 2009 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Self-Improvement:Techniques |

self-directed learning humblenessMost people, with very few exceptions, think lowly of themselves. They have a hard time accepting that they are really capable of far more than they are achieving or have achieved in life.

This lack of vision and boldness is not to be confused with humbleness, a noble trait that is mentioned a lot in the Bible.

It is interesting though, that we will not find the word “self esteem” in the Bible. It’s because self-esteem is all about “self” and the Bible is all about God.

When we can’t imagine ourselves fulfilling great tasks, we are really just focusing on the perception others have of us. It is when we desperately search for ways of promoting ourselves that we will miserably fail at finding our true worth.

That is what we call low self esteem.

By trying to find acknowledgement from others we can easily get trapped in the downward spiral of self exaltation, which ultimately will lead to the fall

True humbleness, on the other hand, is based on obedience to God and fully depends on Him, His empowerment and His provision.

David was humble when he killed Goliath, although his heroic act could have been interpreted as extremely arrogant. Nevertheless, His purpose was not to exalt himself, but to obey God and to glorify Him instead.

In the same way, it is when we take our eyes off our self and focus on God and on what we can do for Him on this planet, that our true potential will flourish and lead us to accomplish those great exploits we all know, deep inside, we are perfectly capable of.

How to Discover Your Passion

Ξ October 13th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Self-Improvement:Techniques |

self-directed learning for success passionAll of us have a unique combination of gifts and talents, but not everybody is totally aware of them. Some people know exactly what their strengths are, but they don’t know how to use them.

Many young people have trouble identifying with who they are and what they were created for when it comes to making decisions about their future career.

The problem is that we cannot deny who we are. Sooner or later frustrations will start to surface if we are not using what we have in our hand. When they come to that point, people often react in three ways:

  1. They deny it and choose to stay in their comfort zone. They are scared to make changes in their lives and prefer security above fulfillment.

  1. Depression. Most mid-life crisis fall into this category. Somewhere around forty years of age many people awake to their true self and get depressed because of the wrong choices they have made.

  1. Some people do the only right thing to do: They take action and start charting the course of their life in a different direction.

If you are ready to discover yourself in the light of what God has already put into you. I have good news for you!

Our talents and skills never stop existing. They are always there, ready to be discovered and exploited. They distinguish us from the rest of the crowd and give us that uniqueness God has designed every human being with.

Here are 6 questions you can ask to discover yourself:

  1. What activity did you love doing as a child?
  2. If you’d ever write a book, what would it be about?
  3. In what area do you feel you can help people in?
  4. What kind of dreams do you daydream about?
  5. What do close friends and relatives say you are good at?
  6. Search in your memories and try to remember a day or an event you truly felt fulfillment and happiness in.

Are You on the Right Track?

Ξ October 6th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Self-improvement:Spiritual |

self-directed learning destinyAre you insecure about God’s plan for your life? Would you like to be assured that you are on track with His purpose and His calling for your life?

I want to remind you that none of us was furtively planted here on earth.  The Bible clearly states that we are a masterpiece of God that is to walk in a plan that He has designed beforehand.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

You know, we will be accountable before God for everything we have done in our lives.

But who wants to miss out on God’s plan anyway? If we don’t hook up to God and search for His plan for our lives, we will miss out on the most exciting and glorious destiny He has planned for us. God is no small thinker! (Isaiah 55:8)

His plans are way beyond anything we can imagine. God’s calling is by far the best option we could experience during your brief stay on planet Earth.

So, how can we know we are on the right track? It is really not that difficult. All you have to do is decide to flow with His program and He will do the rest.

First of all, you have to be sure about these 3 things:

1.- Have you accepted Jesus as Lord of your life? This is the first step you will have to take. Once you have accepted the huge gift He made for you by giving His life so yours could be saved, you become part of God’s family and you can start communicating with your Father.

2.- Are you getting informed about His known will? Before you can walk in God’s specific will, it is vital that you getacquainted with His known will, the Bible. Whatever your calling may be, it will always have to be aligned to theWord of the living God.

3.- Are you taking time to fellowship with God? Just as an earthly son can live a distant life from his father and still be his son, many believers live a distant life from God. Communicating with God is not difficult. He yearns to become part of our life.

Now you can start hearing from God! Once you decide to invest time in your relationship with God, He will draw nearer to you and you will start hearing from Him, not audibly but from within, because that is where He lives when you are a child of God.

He will start directing your life with peace. Whatever is in your heart to do that is aligned with the Word of God, will seem good to you. You will have peace about it. As you begin walking in this, the peace will become stronger and stronger, even if it might seem crazy to others.

Oh, and remember…

“For you shall go out with joy, and be led with peace…” (Isaiah 55:12)
