self-directed learning sunriseWouldn’t it be great if you could ask the Creator of the Universe what His opinion is about that issue you are facing? Imagine you could go to Him right now and freely ask Him!

I mean, He knows exactly what is going on in all spheres of your life and probably has the perfect answer for your dilemma. And besides, He is a whole lot smarter than you are!

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14)

The Bible clearly states that we are already led by the Spirit of God if we are born again by accepting Jesus as the Lord of our lives and therefore have become sons and daughters of God.

Being able to talk to God and hear His opinion about whatever we are up to is an awesome privilege that is not beyond our reach! It is something Christians should actually take much more advantage of! God desires to talk to us and to communicate with us, but we have to do our part.

Here are 3 steps you can follow to learn how to be led by the Holy Spirit:

  • The Holy Spirit usually communicates through a still, small voice. He will give you peace when you consider a certain option. It will just seem good to you. This happened to Silas when he didn’t go back to Jerusalem with the other brethren. All the others returned, but it just seemed good to him to remain in Antioch (Acts 16:34). 6 verses later he is chosen by Paul to go with him on a missionary trip! Wow, imagine he had not followed that leading!

  • It’s always good to get to know a person you want to communicate with. Inform yourself about who the Holy Spirit is and what He does in our lives. Start with John Chapters 14, 15 and 16. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit lives in us, teaches us all things and even tells us about things to come!

  • Study the Word of God. God will never ask you to do anything that goes against His Word. If you are well informed about His known will, the Bible, you will be well prepared to discern his unknown and specific will for your life.
