self-directed learning self-esteem

For those who are struggling with lack of self-esteem: here are three classic self-esteem killers I learned to overcome:

Number 1

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Our society has erroneously taught us that mistakes are bad. In reality, they are most powerful learning tools. We learn a lot by making mistakes.

Do learn from your mistakes and then keep on going. Don’t throw in the towel. Successful people make a lot of mistakes. They learn from their mistakes and acquire valuable wisdom that way.

Number 2

Don’t compare yourself to others. We sometimes have the tendency to think that others have everything figured out. That is not true. Everybody has his own share of worries and struggles. The difference only lies in how we view them. It is the same old glass half-full vs. glass half-empty mentality.

Do accept that you are special. You are unique and have exactly the same possibility to prosper in all areas of life as anybody else has. God has given you a unique combination of talents and gifts and has designed a tailor-made plan for you to walk in.

Number 3

Don’t try to find your worthiness inside yourself and in what you could possibly achieve by your mere human efforts. Even the smartest human being can not do that. The Bible states that our human righteousness is like filthy rags to God.

But the good news is that He made us righteous, acceptable and worthy by sending His Son Jesus Christ.

Do find your true value in what Jesus did for you. He died so that your relationship to God could be restored. By walking with Him you will find the fulfillment you have always wanted to have.

You have to believe on the inside what you want to become on the outside – Creflo Dollar
