Setting Priorities the Biblical Way: How Big is Your Pond? Part II

My son has a turtle. He got her for his birthday about five years ago, and she came in a little aquarium. She was really tiny and cute back then.

As time went by she started to grow, and soon we had to purchase a bigger aquarium. Of course, she kept on growing. So today, and 3 aquariums later, she is living in a huge plastic tub.

Somewhere along the way I started to get worried. Pictures of giant turtles crawling around our house were starting to haunt my mind.

So finally we did some researching , and found out that these turtles could really get huge, but, if you limited their living space, they would stop growing.

How interesting. I had never heard of something like that. Until I realized that this phenomenon is not that uncommon at all.

As a matter of fact, the world is crowded with creatures who are limited by their surroundings and the influences they expose themselves to. Human beings.

And the vast majority of them live at a much lower level than what they were created for.

What is holding them back?

Inevitably, this leads us to analyze our own little world, and to ask ourselves: “In what way is my surrounding influencing me? What am I exposing myself to, and what is limiting my growth?”

Basically, it is the information you are feeding your mind with. Our environment is constantly bombarding us with messages of fear, failure and mediocrity.

Here is only some of them:

“Life is hard, enjoy it while you can; get your feet on the ground; you’re just a dreamer; some people are lucky, others are not; you can`t do it; you’ll never achieve anything…and so on.” That is not what the Bible says about you.
